Abstract: In this talk I will present a new class of stochastic systems, introduced originally as a model for neuronal networks in the papers Galves and Löcherbach (2013) and De Masi, Galves, Löcherbach and Presutti (2015).This class extends in a non-trivial way both the interacting particle systems introduced by Spitzer (1970), and the class of context tree chains, introduced by Rissanen (1983). Besides its possible interest as a model for neuronal networks, this new class of stochastic systems suggests beautiful and challenging probabilistic questions. I will briefly present some recent results, including results on phase transition and metastability, as well as many open questions .
